The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers recently made the announcement that they are going to open up domain name registrations for generic Top Level Domains (gTLD) to all comers. For a modest $185,000 corporations will be able to register such domain extensions as; .coke, .ford, .sony, etc. I imagine common verbs and nouns like .sex, .eat, and .job will create some seriously lucrative bidding wars too.

What does that mean to all of us? Ha ha, well, probably nothing major although hidden in the fine print is the increase to ICANN fees for standard TLDs which brings me full circle to report some ROCKHOST.COM news. Please be advised that if you are a legacy customer currently paying $8.95 annually or $17.95 biennially the renewal price will be inflated to cover ICANN's costs during future terms.

ICANN governs the Internet by regulating how domain name ownership conflicts are resolved.

Have a happy fourth, AMERICA!
