How to reset a mySQL password?

If you have lost your root user password for MySQL, you can reset it with the following procedure:

  • 1. Login to cPanel >> MySQL Databases
  • 2. Delete the Current User with the lost password after writing that username down.
  • 3. Add New User, using the original username, and a new password.
  • 4. Lastly make sure to add the user back to the database it belongs to with appropriate permissions.
